Who we are

We are Just In Cakes Company Limited, trading as Just In Cakes, company number 16430210, of 10b Station Road, Kirkham, PR4 2AS. We are the data controller for the information described here. You can contact us about your information at justincakesco@gmail.com.

What we collect and why

Sourdough Pre-Orders

Your name, mobile number, email address, the loaves you order, your collection day and any notes. We use these to prepare your order, confirm it by email, contact you about it and take payment. Card payments are handled by our payment provider; we do not see or store your full card details. We keep order records for as long as we need them for accounts and tax purposes, normally six years.

Cake Enquiries

Your name, mobile number, email address, the occasion and date, the number of servings, your description of the cake, any photos or links you send, and any allergy or dietary information you choose to give us. We use these to prepare a quote, discuss the design with you and, if you book, to make the cake. Allergy and dietary information is health information; we ask for only what we need to assess whether we can meet the requirement safely, and we do not use it for anything else. We keep enquiries that do not become a booking for twelve months, and booked orders for six years.

Contact form and email

Your name, email address and message, so that we can reply. We keep correspondence for as long as it is relevant to the matter you raised.

Gift vouchers

Your name and email address, the recipient's name and email address, your message and the voucher amount, so that we can issue the voucher, deliver it and redeem it at the counter. We keep voucher records until the voucher has expired and for our accounts afterwards.

Our emails, the welcome offer and Christmas sign ups

Your email address, and your name if you give it, so that we can send you the updates you asked for. If you sign up through the welcome offer, we email you your first order code and then occasional news, offers and seasonal pre-orders. We record when you gave consent and the wording you agreed to. We only send marketing to people who have ticked the box to sign up for it, and you do not need to sign up to browse, enquire or order. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any of our emails or by contacting us, and we will stop straight away. We keep your email on our list until you unsubscribe, then keep a record that you unsubscribed so we do not email you again by mistake.

To make sure the welcome code is used once per customer, we keep a record of the email address it was used with and the order it was used on.

How we know where enquiries come from

To understand which of our activity leads to orders, an enquiry or order records the page you came to us from and any campaign tags in the link you followed, for example from our Instagram profile. This does not identify you personally beyond the details you give us in the form.

Our legal basis

We process order and enquiry information because it is necessary to perform a contract with you or to take steps at your request before a contract. We process allergy and dietary information with your explicit consent, which you give by telling us about it in the form, and because we have a legal duty to provide safe food. We send marketing emails only with your consent. We keep accounting records because the law requires us to.

Who we share it with

We use trusted service providers to run this website and our email, to process form submissions and to take card payments. They act on our instructions and only have the information they need to provide their service. We do not sell your information and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Photographs

Section 13 of our terms explains how we photograph the cakes we make and use those photographs in our marketing. We do not publish photographs that identify a person, or personal details such as names on a cake, without separate permission.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it where we no longer need it, object to or restrict how we use it, and withdraw consent where we rely on it. Cookies

This website does not set cookies of its own for advertising or tracking. It uses your browser's session storage to remember which page you arrived on while you are here, so that an enquiry can record where it came from; that is cleared when you close the browser. The map on our visit page is provided by Google Maps and may set cookies when it loads; Google's own privacy policy applies to that. If we add analytics to the site, we will update this notice and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
