Our story.

For Emma, that meant baking cakes for family birthdays and finding any excuse to try a new recipe. For Taylor, it was cooking. Neither of us had planned to turn those hobbies into a business, but in 2025 we left our jobs in London and moved north, back to where Taylor grew up. We wanted to give ourselves some time to work out what we really wanted to do next.

The idea came in May that year, while Emma was making a cake and thought, “I wonder if I could actually do anything with this?” Rather than overthinking it, she decided to give it a go. A name was chosen, social media pages were set up, and Just In Cakes Co. was born. The orders began coming in, followed by more enquiries and our first markets. Taylor was there at every stall, helping to set up, serve customers and pack everything away afterwards. We could hardly believe that something we enjoyed so much was beginning to take shape as a business.

In early 2026, Taylor spotted a listing for what would become our bakery on Station Road. He came home, showed Emma and said, “Imagine if we opened up our own bakery.” We booked a viewing and fell in love with the space straight away. We could see ourselves building a bakery there, and it felt like the place to take our next step together.

Today, we love getting creative in the kitchen, trying new flavours and working on recipes until we’re happy with them. Just as much, we love getting to know the people who visit us. Meeting someone for the first time, seeing them come back and learning their usual order has become one of the most rewarding parts of running the bakery. We want you to feel welcome, comfortable and relaxed here, with something on the counter you’re excited to try.
